* Defence Minister Peter Dutton has hit back at WA Premier Mark McGowan after he lambasted the federal government for failing to provide better alternatives to hotel quarantine.

* Mr McGowan says CBD hotels are not fit for purpose and defence facilities such as Curtin Air Base in Derby or immigration detention facilities on Christmas Island would be better.

* However Mr Dutton says that’s not the case and there are up to nine Perth hotels working perfectly fine.

* The city and neighbouring Peel region meanwhile continue their three-day lockdown after COVID-19 cases linked to the Perth Mercure Hotel. Mr McGowan has warned that some restrictions are likely to be extended.

* Two locally acquired cases have so far been linked to the outbreak.

* AstraZeneca shots will be available for people over 50 at state and territory vaccination centres as well as respiratory clinics from May 3, before being sent to all GPs from May 17.

* Even so, Labor’s spokesman for the NDIS Bill Shorten is not happy at the extremely slow pace of vaccination at disability facilities, saying just 100 out of 6000 facilities have received their jabs.

* More than 600,000 half-price flights have been snapped up in just three weeks following the federal government’s $1.2 billion package to help tourism bounce back from the pandemic.

* Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack says the mass uptake of cheap domestic holiday trips is a big win for the aviation industry, with carriers “now doing a roaring trade”.

* Australia reported zero locally acquired virus cases on Sunday.

* There were 10 new overseas-acquired cases in quarantine; two in WA, three in NSW, two in Queensland and one each in South Australia, Victoria and the Northern Territory.

* The national death toll is 910: Victoria 820, NSW 56, Tasmania 13, WA 9, Queensland 7, SA 4, ACT 3 (Two Queensland residents who died in NSW have been included in the official tolls of both states).

* Cases: at least 146,481,456

* Deaths: at least 3,099,907

* Recovered: at least 84,123,195.
