SARASOTA – Sarasota Memorial Health Care System cleared space for an 82-bed Behavioral Health Pavilion at its main campus recently by demolishing an outdated structure on its campus.

The 95,000-square-foot facility will be built on the east side of Osprey Avenue, between Waldemere and Hawthorne streets.

The facility replaces Bayside East, a 1960s-vintage structure that housed the administrative offices and outpatient services for Sarasota Memorial’s behavioral health program.

Sarasota County’s public hospital has been busy updating and expanding its facilities.

A new hospital campus in Venice is scheduled to open at the end of this year and the hospital board also gave the go-head to build a six-story cancer pavilion on the hospital’s main Sarasota campus and a two-story cancer center in Venice.
